ON THE COVER:

Fire Museum

of Maryland

Located in Lutherville, Baltimore

County, the Fire Museum of Maryland

opened in 1971 and began to collect,

preserve and display a wide variety of

artifacts, equipment and information

pertaining to urban fire history. Visitors

can enjoy over 40 pieces of fire

apparatus, a working fire alarm office,

life in an 1871 firehouse, and many

other exhibits and displays. The Kids’

Discovery Room is an ideal place for

children to put on gear and climb on a

full-size fire engine.

The Museum hosts a number of

special events throughout the year

including the Annual Steam Day,

Lantern Night, Family Safety Day, The

Great Baltimore Fire Coach Tour, the

Holiday Train Garden, Honoring Our

Heroes, and several events involving

fire wagon rides, games for children,

and story times.

Throughout the year, the Museum

is host to school groups and works

within the county’s STEM curriculum

to assist students in meeting certain

requirements. Tours and outreach

programs are also available for adults.

The Museum is open year-round to

walk-in traffic on Saturdays. In the

summer months, the Museum is open

Wednesday through Saturday. Come

see everything that is shiny and red –

or yellow, orange, green or blue! Visit
