Patuxent
WINE TRA I L
SPANNING FOUR COUNTIES,
Patuxent Wine Trail’s ten wineries create
the perfect opportunity for a long day trip or weekend getaway. As you
meander up and down Southern Maryland roads, the influence of the
Chesapeake Bay is never far away. Enjoy historic landmarks, waterfront
towns built for strolling, and a thriving food and wine scene. Seafood,
anyone? In season, it would be a shame to miss Maryland blue crabs,
rockfish and oysters, all of which pair beautifully with local wine.
You can start up north, in Anne Arundel County, at Great Frogs Winery
and Thanksgiving Farm. Drive south to Calvert County to explore Friday’s
Creek Winery, Perigeaux Vineyards &Winery, Running Hare Vineyard and
Cove Point Winery. Cross the Patuxent River for a stop in Prince George’s
County’s Romano Vineyard & Winery. Then head to the southernmost
county, St. Mary’s, to sample wines from Port of Leonardtown Winery,
Slack Winery & Vineyard and Solomons Island Winery. Or you can start
down south and head north! Either way, you’ll be able to soak up the
history of one of Maryland’s first colonial settlements.
With a climate similar to that in Tuscany, you’ll discover crisp white
wines, soft, full-bodied reds, and sweet, fruity wines. It’s a variety of
offerings that will make any palate happy! For more information, visit
