TRAIL IN FOCUS
us to support charitable causes that
are close to them.” Vino 301 Wine
Concierge participates in International
Wine Tourism Day; the event promotes
wine tourism, but also donates to a
charity or non-profit of their choice. In
November, they dedicated a wine tour
to the Bowie Food Pantry.
The Patuxent Wine Trail displays
every aspect of the region’s charms
as it wraps through Calvert, Prince
George’s, and St. Mary’s Counties. The
Patuxent and Potomac Rivers and the
Chesapeake Bay surround the Wine
Trail. Many tourists are attracted to the
Wine Trail because of the history and
historical landmarks. Leslie’s favorite
wine in the Patuxent Wine Trail region
is the uniquely branded Chambourcin.
“Running Hare Vineyard has a port-
style Chambourcin that pairs extremely
well with a decadent double chocolate
cake. Port of Leonardtown has a beau-
tifully crafted Reserve Chambourcin.
And Romano Vineyard and Winery’s
Chambourcin is perfect to sip slightly
chilled or served with a hearty stew,”
reveals Leslie Frelow.
As a wine enthusiast, Leslie’s experi-
ences have persuaded her to love and
promote the local wineries. The loyal
following behind the Maryland winer-
ies are one that Leslie appreciates. She
believes that Maryland’s wine industry
has opened the way for beer and spirits
entrepreneurs.

Q
Do you have a
mission that
you live by?
FRELOW:
Be authentic. You
have to be true to yourself.
When you are true to yourself
you will truly be true to others.
Q
How would you
explain your overall
experience with
Maryland wine thus far?
FRELOW:
A love affair.
Q
What’s your favorite
part about serving
a local product(s)?
FRELOW:
I love seeing the
reactions our tour guests have
when they first try Maryland
wine. There is an unmistakable
look of surprise and then
there is a smile. Finally, they
say, “That was really good.”
Q
Tell us a few
places you enjoy
visiting as a
Prince George’s resident.
FRELOW:
There is nothing like a
Redskins game regardless if they
are winning or losing. Winning is
always the best. Jerry’s Seafood
has the best crab cakes (“crab
bomb”) in all of Maryland.
Billingsley House is one of my
favorite places. It is an historical
manor along the Patuxent.
It is a great place to spend
a quiet Saturday afternoon
and have a picnic lunch.
