The
Todd Farmhouse
is an historic
home located at Fort Howard. Since
1664 Thomas Todd’s family owned 1000
acres of land in this area of the Coun-
ty. During the War of 1812, the house,
which overlooks Shallow Creek and the
Chesapeake Bay, was used by the Todd
family as a lookout point to observe
the approaching British Fleet and warn
Maryland militia.
The
Perry Hall Mansion
is an historic
structure located on a hill above the
Gunpowder River Valley. The mansion
is an excellent example of late colonial
and early 19th-century life in eastern
Baltimore County. Construction was
completed in 1776 under Harry Dorsey
Gough, a wealthy Baltimore merchant
who owned the vast plantation.
The County’s historic homes are listed on
the National Register of Historic Places.
