Welcome and thank you for

visiting Howard County.

Whether you’re joining us for your vacation-destination or are a fellow Marylander

stopping through, we’re confident you’ll find an abundance of great places to visit,

sights to see, and things to do. Come to Columbia, recently named by

Money Magazine

as the No. 1 Best Small City to live in the U.S., and take a stroll around our Lakefront.

If you’re a nature enthusiast, journey through the many paths around the County,

experience the paddle boats or trails at Centennial Park, or discover the extensive

educational programming and marvels housed at our Robinson Nature Center.

If you are inspired by the Arts, stop by “The People Tree,” one of Columbia’s most

symbolic sculptures that captures our collective goal in fostering an inclusive,

diverse community. Or take a drive down to Fulton and visit our beloved African

Art Museum of Maryland. You’re also invited to catch a dynamic and interactive

performance at Toby’s Dinner Theatre or enjoy a concert at our renowned

Merriweather Post Pavilion, both centrally located in Downtown Columbia.

Howard County is home to about 40,000 acres of farm land. With more than

318 farms that help stock our seasonal Farmer’s Markets, be sure to swing

by any one of our locations and take advantage of our fresh, local offerings.

During your stay, you’re also invited to a culinary adventure at any of our award-

winning restaurants, many of which provide our local farm ingredients.

If you enjoy shopping, then stop by any of our Village Centers, Main Street Ellicott City

or Historic Savage Mill to shop local and support our small businesses. I’m confident

you’ll find treasures that peak your interest to

take back home with you and create lasting

memories during your stay that will last a lifetime.

All the best,

Dr. Calvin Ball
