Howard County Office on Aging and Independence operates three (3)
therapeutic social day programs for adults aged 18 and over. Howard
County’s Connections Social Day Programs are located within the
Ellicott City 50+ Center, North Laurel 50+ Center and the Glenwood
50+ Center. Formerly named Senior Center Plus, these centers now
serve adults of all ages who are in need of some structure and assistance
during the day while they enjoy activities and opportunities that keep
them connected to their community.
Programming
The goals of the Connections Social Day Program are to support the
continued independence of the community-based individual with
cognitive and/or physical disabilities and to provide respite for his/
her caregiver. Quality, therapeutic programs and structured, interesting
activities designed to facilitate the functional independence of the
participants are offered daily. All programs and activities during the
4-hour day are designed to encourage independence while providing
assistance and oversight as needed.

Life review and memory enhancement

Cards and games

Trips and outings
•
Intergenerational programming
•
And much more
Additionally, a morning snack and a nutritionally balanced lunch are
served each day.
The social component of the program is of utmost importance. Even
those individuals who were not usually “joiners” enjoy the camaraderie
and the opportunities for fun, creativity, and more.

A daily fee covers all program costs, trips,
snacks and lunch. A sliding scale is offered to
Howard County residents.Transportation is the
responsibility of family/caregiver. The staff can
provide information about public and private
transportation options available.
