SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Howard County Farm-City Celebration
September 17 to October 2, 2016
“Farmland Forever
…
Building Healthy Families
”
H
oward County farms have
been producing food and
fiber for more than 200 years.
Today, you can still taste a
crisp, fresh-picked apple, touch a
newborn calf and enjoy a beautiful
drive through the County’s rural west
to see autumn in its brightest hues.
Howard County is known for its
diversity, and we celebrate it with
the multitude of religions and
holidays.With each holiday, there
are traditional dishes that can
utilize farm-fresh ingredients.
Fall is the perfect time to celebrate
the County’s strong agricultural
heritage and to promote the
mutual benefits farmers and their
“city cousins” share. The Howard
County Farm-City Celebration
is 16 days of fun for families,
learning experiences for kids of
all ages, and an opportunity to
appreciate the contributions our
farms make to the quality of life
for all Howard County residents.
From September 17 to October
2, farms are opening their doors
to visitors and holding Fall Harvest
Festivals. Special programs are
scheduled in the schools and
at library branches. And, don’t
miss visiting Farm Heritage Days,
Sept. 24-25, across from Howard
County Fairgrounds (12985
Frederick Road,West Friendship).
This following is your guide to
all the events scheduled during
this unique celebration.
