The program is designed to meet the needs of those

individuals who have a medical diagnosis of early memory

loss or a related memory disorder. Screening for eligibility

into the Social Club will be conducted by the Director or our

trained Office on Aging and Independence staff, to ensure

that individuals are able to benefit from the program. This

is a transition program, so that when the needs of the

participant can no longer be met by the Social Club, the

staff will assist with an appropriate referral.

is a free information & referral service for Howard County families.

ones of Alzheimer’s patients, affiliated with the Greater

Maryland Alzheimer’s Association and sponsored by the

Howard County Office on Aging and Independence. Meets

the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00pm

at the Bain Center- behind the fireplace.

Age 50 and up peer outreach program creates opportunities

designed to nurture interaction amoung older adults, support

emotional wellness, develop social networks, and promote a

thriving aging process.Groups meet either weekly or short-term

on a variety of topics and concerns such as: bereavement, low

vision independence, men’s focus, care-giver support, keeping

the mind stimulated, and discussions on current events and

social topics.All groups are facilitated by trained older adults.

Programs are offered at Howard County Senior Centers and

other offisite locations; periodic luncheons are held at area

restaurants. Seminars and workshops are presented on a

variety of aging topics and include social networking activities.
