Town & Citi

Hampstead

www.Hampsteadmd.gov

Hampstead, a historic,

friendly community with a

quintessentially classic Main

Street, has grown quickly

since the first stagecoach

came to town in 1808 and

has still retained its small-

town charm and beauty.

Several events are held in

Hampstead: Hampstead

Day (May), the Fireman’s

Carnival and Parade (August),

Fallfest (October), the

Farmers’ Market (Saturdays,

June-September), the

Christmas Tree Lighting

(December), and more.

The historic

Train Station

,

originally constructed

in 1912, is a museum

showcasing Hampstead’s

history; the monumental

War Memorial

on Main

Street honors veterans from

World War I forward. Play

golf at

Oakmont Green

or

take a walk in one of the

restful parks…dine at one

of the many locally-owned

restaurants, and be sure to

visit the downtown shops

and the nearby

Galloping

Goose

winery. Come and see

why Hampstead was named

“Best Place to Raise Children

in Maryland” and “Safest

Place to Live in Maryland”!

Manchester

The Town of Manchester

dates back to the 1760s

and is famous for being the

base for the Union Sixth

Army Corps, which made

its march into Gettysburg,

Pa. under General John

Sedgwich. During the Civil

War, thousands of troops

were housed in or around

the town. Over the years,

Manchester has kept its

small-town feel through local

organizations and volunteers

who operate the

Christmas

Tree Park

and

Charlotte’s

Quest Nature Center

.
