The Sherman- Fisher-Shellman House (1807) was renovated to display the daily activities of a family of Pennsylvanian Germans, a significant community in Carroll County in the early nineteenth century. The adjacent Kimmey House (c.1800) is home to the Shriver-Weybright Gallery where a self-guided museum tour provides a sense of what went into the making of Carroll County through the contributions of the Emerald Hill residents. Visitors to the Historical Society Shop and Book Store will find a treasure trove of unique items created by county artisans and history books written by local and regional authors. In addition, the Society features unique exhibits at Emerald Hill (Westminster City Hall). In 2013, this e ort came to fruition thanks to several local agencies — the Carroll Arts Council, Recreation and Parks, Agriculture Development, Public Library and Tourism. An enthusiastic farming community embraced the idea of exhibiting the quilt patterns on their properties. The barns lend their own unique backdrop with their weathered boards and some newly painted boards as well. Colors from bright red to weathered gray set o the classic and modern designs of the quilt patterns. You can enjoy bright quilt patterns and unique barns as you travel the scenic roads of Carroll County.
